Producer / DJ / Sound Designer
Bass.hed art by Ben Didier
Since 1999, Matthew Peters has been creating his own style of music – described variously by others as hip-hop, electronic, avant-jazz, neo-classical, and most all: consistently unpredictable - as Mad EP.
Collaboration is a central pillar of Peters' work and his releases on labels Ad Noiseam, Hymen & Acroplane are full of appearances from hiphop mcs the Shadow Huntaz, Vandell 'equivalANT' Harris, Area Filthy One; jazz trumpeter David Young, drummer Bryce Beverlin II, guitarist Nicholas Major; and his own improvisation consort - the Manhattan Gimp Project. Additionally, he has composed for experimental theatre productions in New York, collaborated with Panamanian filmmaker Anel Reyes and bboy dance crew Netwon's Enemies, worked on several projects with dancer/choreographer Jake Nwogu, and created commissioned music for 2Faced Youth Dance company in Hereford.
His genre-bending show on Sub.FM ran for 6 years and contributed countless guest mixes for various radio shows and podcasts across the globe. He has provided remixes for such notable artists as Unique 3, Aspects, Dälek, End.user, Wage of Sin, Puppetmastaz, Mochipet, Jason Forrest; and been featured as a cellist on tracks by Venetian Snares, and Leafcutter John.
